Community Energy Initiative
13th February 2012, 7.30pm, Small Hall. In Spring 2011, the VAP Plumpton Goes Green Team carried out a survey of the energy consumption and environmental footprint of a small number of households in the village – the “community footprint”. The survey showed very clearly that, while Plumpton residents’ energy consumption is about average for the Lewes district, our oil consumption puts us way above the norm. Basically, because most of us are reliant on oil for our heating, we are paying out a lot of money, and we are leaving a big sooty footprint on our environment... » More

Plumpton Station Partnership Scheme
For the last time, Garden Pride and Fragbarrow Nursery have kindly provided the winter interest plants at the station. Their generosity for the last two years has been much appreciated and has made a huge difference to the appearance of the station.
However, the actual planting was undertaken by students at the Horticultural section of Plumpton College – and they have agreed to take on the provision of plants and the planting from now on – great news – and thank you to everyone involved at Plumpton College!
Notice Boards
The eagle-eyed will have spotted that a number of new notice-boards have appeared throughout the Parish which are already being well-used and are sure to become well-loved village facilities.
They are there for the use of village clubs and societies to advertise their events – they are not for the use of businesses or other commercial organisations please.
Thanks to the VAP Communications Team for organising these useful facilities which VAP has funded. These add to the three already in place funded by generous donations from clubs and societies.
ACRP Community Rail Awards
Mick Newman and two Partnership volunteers went to Sheffield in September for the National Association of Community Rail Partnership Awards.
Plumpton had been nominated for the Station Adoption Scheme of the Year Award and was one of 14 entries in this category and had been short-listed down to the last five.
Plumpton was a Runner-up! This was a fantastic achievement given that Plumpton’s volunteers have only been involved for 15 months – others for over 15 years!!
