Communications Team
Team Objectives
The strength of the Plumpton community relies heavily on good quality local communication. The Action Plan identified the vital role of the Parish Magazine as well as the need to use the internet, local media and notice boards more effectively to promote the work the Parish Council and Village Action Plan on behalf of the village.
We want the community to look on the Parish Council and Village Action Plan website as an essential information source and we are committed to promote and develop them further.
The Communications Team brings together a wealth of experience and expertise to help all those involved in implementing the Action Plan publicise their activities in the Parish Magazine and local papers.
Each edition of the Parish Magazine contains four pages, sponsored by the Village Shop, devoted to the work of the Action Plan.
The team is working on new notice boards for the village; a new information book for residents, especially new residents and is also involved in the development of this website.
Editor of the Parish Magazine, Reg Stone, leads the Communications Team.
Team Updates
Notice Boards
The eagle-eyed will have spotted that a number of new notice-boards have appeared throughout the Parish which are already being well-used and are sure to become well-loved village facilities.
They are there for the use of village clubs and societies to advertise their events – they are not for the use of businesses or other commercial organisations please.
Thanks to the VAP Communications Team for organising these useful facilities which VAP has funded. These add to the three already in place funded by generous donations from clubs and societies.

Notice Boards
The VAP Communications team has been working on the provision of a number of notice boards throughout the village to enable local groups to advertise their events prominently and in an orderly fashion. Telegraph poles have oft been used in the past, but this can incur the wrath of BT on 'Health & Safety' grounds, with threats of prosecution.
One board has been provided at the village store and another two of the same size are currently being constructed. The first was paid for by VAP and a number of local clubs and societies have contributed towards the forthcoming costs. Some smaller ones are planned for the near future.
Good co-operation has been received from Plumpton Parish Council and East Sussex County Council Highways Department to facilitate the erection of the boards.
Parish Magazine
The Parish Mag now contains three VAP pages that are sponsored by Plumpton College and Plumpton Racecourse.
