Plumpton Festive Fair
PLUMPTON GETS IN THE FESTIVE MOOD
The second Plumpton Green Festive Fair was held on Saturday 27th November and brought together 32 locally based food producers, craftspeople and small businesses. Hundreds of shoppers, again, flocked to Plumpton.
The Green Festive Fair was the brain child of the Plumpton Village Action Plan with the Plumpton Goes Green and Business Teams working in partnership to showxase the local entrepreneurs. By providing shoppers with an opportunity to buy locally, the idea was that they would not only be saving on fuel, but also enabling local businesses to be more sustainable.
Virtually everything needed for Christmas festivities was available at the Fair. Shoppers were able to buy or place their orders for their festive meal, and buy presents in a friendly, stress-free environment.
On stage, Sussex Wildlife Trust was working with local children and making some wonderful bird feeders for them to take away.
The village Windmill Rangers group, had on offer delicious soups and lunches plus home-made cakes to enjoy with a relaxing cuppa.
The organisers had also engaged the children at the local Plumpton Primary School in a Design a Christmas Card competition. Oliver Bailey’s ‘Santa’, and Georgia Taylor’s delightful picture of a robin evidently wowed the local artist judges, Lyndsey Smith and Jeanie Muddle.
Hampers galore were the theme for local produce prizes in the raffle – items conservatively estimated at over £400.
It seems that stallholders and shoppers alike have given the organisers a big thumbs up for more and next year’s event is already booked!
