Sports Pavilion
An Update on the Latest News
As mentioned by the Parish Council in the June edition of the Parish Magazine, as we write, plans for the new Pavilion are being presented by VAP to the Parish Council for review.
To provide some background:
Firstly, following consultation with users, Beverly Barrell and the VAP Facilities Team, put forward a proposal to the Parish Council in April 2010 that the most cost-effective way forward would be for a new sports pavilion to be built. Approval was given for research to be undertaken by VAP in the form of a feasibility study.
Secondly, over the course of the last year, Beverly, and latterly Kelvin Speirs and James Anwyl, have worked hard to understand the sports clubs’ user requirements for the future.
All of the sports clubs have confirmed that the floor-plan design meets their requirements. In addition, wider consultation through the process has been carried out - the VAP Plumpton Goes Green Team, the VAP Business Team, the Plumpton Wildlife & Habitat Group, the Youth Forum, and of course, the Playing Fields Committee have all been involved.
What now needs to happen is an overall review to ensure that the design takes into account any other requirements so that the future building becomes a facility attractive to other potential facility hirers.
A holistic review of the carparking arrangements also needs to be carried out. As with all construction projects, the aspirations will need to be tempered by the financing that is available.
Should agreement be reached that the scheme can be taken forward, the Parish Council will work with the VAP volunteers to engage with the whole community – watch out for news of events so that you can have your say!
Whatever the outcome – a huge thank you to James Anwyl for all his hard work in drawing up the plans and consulting with everyone.
